“You tried what?”

I have gotten this response a few times, once from my parents when I was first trying to make one of the newest blog/health crazes known as celery juice.

It’s exactly what it sounds like – literally, just the squeezed out, liquid part of that crunchy green vegetable.

Today I’ll be giving you a mini step-by-step guide of what I did, and also my **honest** opinion about it after about two weeks of drinking it every morning.

Here’s what I did:

The first thing we did was go to Whole Foods (because we were feeling fancy) and picked up some celery and a nut milk bag. The nut milk bag was necessary to squeeze out all that yummy juice!

Next, we prepared the celery and chopped it up. The recipe we found suggested about 1-1/2 cups of celery per glass, and because we used a blender, roughly 1/2 a cup of water per glass. We made about 3 cups of celery!

The next step was to blend! Woo hoo!

Now comes the fun part. Once your celery is blended, you take the nut milk bag and put it in a bowl, then carefully pour the celery into the bag with the bowl underneath.

Then, use the nut milk bag to squeeze the celery juice into the bowl. This part was so fun! Just squeeze out all the juice you can.

That’s really all there was to it! The process itself was super easy and I didn’t mind it at all.

But here’s the real question: what do I think about celery juice? Is it worth the hype?!

The taste:

The first time my friends and I made celery juice, I was not a fan of the taste. It is, after all, celery juice. However, wanting to give it a legitimate try, both for myself and because I thought it would fun to write about it, I tried drinking celery juice every morning for two weeks. And surprisingly, the taste got better for me. It felt fresh, and I kind of started to enjoy it.

The benefits:

The celery juice trend comes with a variety of health claims such as reducing inflammation, immune support, and improved gut health. And who wouldn’t want that?!

But honestly?

While I’m not writing this from months of drinking celery juice, I can say that the two weeks I did drink it weren’t life-changing by any means. I didn’t notice too much of a difference other than feeling more awake in the mornings, which was probably more due to the fact I was waking up to blend celery every morning instead of just reaching for the coffee pot.

My overall thoughts:

Honestly, I enjoyed drinking celery juice every morning. Because the dedicated followers recommend drinking it before consuming food, It forced me to wake up earlier and get ready for the day more slowly, which I honestly liked.

But as for the health benefits and as I said before, I didn’t notice too much of a change…. So I would encourage trying it if you’re interested as I did find it fun to feel healthy and #trendy for the day, but not considering it a “miracle juice” or the end-all-be-all to your health ailments.
